Jane Westergaard (MA, DipCG, UKRC Counsellor), is a senior lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church University. She teaches on a range of programmes specifically designed for students who plan to engage in roles in the ‘helping professions’ (education, health, social care, private sector and so on). Jane is Programme Director for the BA (Hons) Counselling, Coaching and Mentoring, and the Certificate in Supervision Studies.

Jane is interested in the practice of engaging with clients, in helping relationships (counselling, coaching and supervision), both one-to-one and in the group context. She has recently published a book on Effective Supervision for Counsellors (2013) with colleague, Hazel Reid. Jane has spoken on the subjects of supervision, group work and counselling – particularly with young people -  at a number of national and international conferences.

Jane is a qualified and practising UKRC registered counsellor, working with young people and adult clients. She also offers supervision in a range of contexts, predominantly in educational settings with Senior Leadership Teams, Headteachers, Learning Mentors, Pastoral Support Workers, Nurture Teams and others.
